AERIALS ON THE RIDGE

At the height of the peak there are two antennas with a significant magnetic draw, and as I left the office today, I felt a strong urge to go there. There is a path that trades the black of the asphalt for the cream-colored dirt, artificial for natural, the horn for the dust, stability for balance, the smooth for the rough, the light stroll for the gruelling struggle.

There is no time for boredom, and each slope is marked with pain. The more I progress, the more I end up suffering. With my eyes pasted to the ground and the tape on the handlebars soaked, I wonder “When will I get there?”. At the height of the peak there are two antennas with a significant magnetic draw.

And in the era of big studs and American mechanisms, I crouch down with my Campagnolo and my 25 inch surface. Lacking five kms, I deflate. At the peak of the crest I see two blinking lights. If you get a flat again, you’ll have to go back on foot - I think. The adventure comes to an end with la lanterne rouge making me visible in the invisible. At the height of the peak there are two antennas with a significant magnetic draw. You can go alone or in company, and if you decide to go in the morning at the weekend, at the peak you will find the two antennas, and a hamburger as a bonus.
